Education of Bioinformatics

Bioinformatics offers education by teaching courses at the bachelor and master level of different study programs. In addition, they provide BSc- and MSc theses, research practices and internships.
Thesis
BSc thesis
As a BSc student you will work as an apprentice alongside one of the PhD students or postdocs in the group. You will work on your own research project, closely guided by your supervisor. You will be expected to work with several tools and/or databases, be creative and potentially overcome technical challenges. Look at the list of MSc thesis projects above and list the projects that you are most interested in on the intake form. Based on your interests, a supervisor will be found and a suitable project will be defined.
MSc thesis
In the Bioinformatics group, we offer a wide range of MSc thesis projects, from applied bioinformatics to computational method development. Here is a list of available MSc thesis projects. Besides the fact that these topics can be pursued for a MSc thesis, they can also be pursued as part of a Research Practice.

Internship
The internship is part of the MSc programme in Bioinformatics (MBF). Below you can find some potential internship providers to help you get started in your search for a nice project. Please contact the internship coordinator to discuss your options and the organization of your project.

Courses
The Bioinformatics Group is involved in teaching several courses, at the BSc level in the minor Bioinformatics, and in the Bioinformatics MSc programme. The Bioinformatics minor offers a practical introduction to bioinformatics aimed at BSc students from various life science backgrounds. The Bioinformatics master focuses on the knowledge and skills needed to analyze biological datasets, and the ability to develop new bioinformatics tools and approaches to answer biological questions. The courses that we provide in the Bioinformatics minor and master are listed below.
In addition, we supervise BSc and Msc thesis projects embedded within the research of our group, as well as internships at external partners.
