People of Soil Biology

Jan-Willem van Groenigen is professor and chair of the Soil Biology Group. His main research aim is to understand cycles of elements, and how soil organisms affect these cycles. "I am an enthusiastic teacher. It is my strong conviction that at a university, excellent teaching begets excellent research, and excellent research begets excellent teaching." So far, Jan-Willen has published over 120 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals as author or co-author and appeared in Dutch newspapers and television.
