What will this course teach you?
Skills
After this course, you will be able to:
- talk about your experiences as an immigrant in the Netherlands;
- explain what you need to function better in a given context;
- describe statistical figures;
- express complaints and wishes;
- formulate and ask for advice;
- discuss (theoretical) possibilities for the future;
- present your message convincingly;
- describe details about people, objects, or situations;
- check facts politely;
- converse and offer a nuanced opinion on current topics;
- negotiate matters.
Grammatica
Grammar is always addressed in a communicative context and in functional situations.
For example: When you learn to give or ask for advice, you simultaneously learn about the verb "zoon/zoon" (would/would), because knowledge of this grammatical topic is useful and relevant for politely giving or asking for advice at a higher level.
Culture and history influence a country's language. Therefore, this course also addresses interesting and relevant aspects of Dutch culture and history. Knowledge of these topics makes it easier to understand Dutch people and their reactions.
During the course, you will also receive information about the State Exam NT2 Program II. You will learn what the exam is, what its components are, and how to practice for it. This information will help you determine whether it is worthwhile for you to take this exam, organized by the Dutch government.
