Would you like to know for example how to talk about your health, or how to give your opinion in different ways? In that case, our Social Dutch 4 course is just the thing for you.

This course is intended for bachelor's and master's students of Wageningen University & Research who want to further improve their Dutch language skills. 

What will you learn?

Content and approach

From on the way to A2 to A2

This course will help you reach language level A2. The main goal of this course is to help you learn to communicate in Dutch in simple, everyday situations.

Approach
The emphasis is on oral communication, but reading, listening, and writing skills are also covered. Dutch is spoken as much as possible in class, with English as the supporting language. You'll also learn more about Dutch culture.

What will this course teach you?

After this course, you will be able to:

  • ask friendly questions;
  • name body parts;
  • give instructions about movement;
  • describe the future;
  • encourage someone;
  • write a formal letter or email;
  • give advice;
  • say how you feel and talk about your health;
  • ask for personal information;
  • give compliments;
  • say that something is unnecessary or that you do not want to answer;
  • ask for an opinion and give your opinion

Grammar

More attention than in the Social Dutch-courses 1 to 3 is given to such matters as grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Reading and writing skills are mostly practiced in the time allotted for self-study.

Grammar is always covered in a communication context and for functional purposes.

Culture and history influence the language of a country. That is why this course will also pay attention to interesting and relevant aspects of Dutch culture and history. Knowledge about these topics will make it easier to understand Dutch people and their responses.

You need prior knowledge of Dutch for this course. If you have completed Social Dutch 3, you can participate in Social Dutch 4. Have you studied Dutch before? Then schedule an intake interview via into@wur.nl to determine which course is most suitable for you.
