Do you have little knowledge of English and do you want to acquire a solid foundation? For example, to use on holiday or to talk to international colleagues? Then this course is exactly what you need. You learn the basic English skills required to hold an informal conversation and to read and write simple texts.
Who is this course suitable for?
Everyone that has little knowledge of English and wants to acquire a solid foundation in a short time. Level: A1-A2.

Admission requirements
To take this course you need an Oxford Online Placement Test (OOPT) score between 0-40. You can apply for the online OOPT by emailing us at into@wur.nl. Read more about the OOPT.
What will you learn?

Course content
The beginner course is focussed on practical skills. You learn English using everyday situations. The following topics are covered:
- introducing yourself;
- giving personal information;
- asking and answering questions;
- pronunciation;
- verb conjugation and tenses;
- beginner grammar and vocabulary;
- beginner reading and writing skills.

- Location: face-to-face at Wageningen campus
This course is offered annually in February/March and October.

The course price does not include course materials.
If you register for an online course, you follow all classes online using the Virtual Classroom in Brightspace. If you choose a face-to-face course, all classes will take place at Wageningen Campus.
The course consists of ten lessons of one hour and thirty minutes each week. You should also allow for two to three hours of self-study per week to reach the desired level.

After having registered for this course, you will receive additional information about the course materials in due time.
You will receive a certificate from Wageningen in’to Languages if you attend at least 80% of the lessons.
