Do you already speak English reasonably well, but would you like to speak the language with greater ease and more confidence? Now’s your chance! This course offers you the chance to take your English speaking skills to the next level.
Who is this course suitable for?
The Speaking Skills course is intended for everyone who want to improve their English speaking skills. Level: B1-C2. Read more about the language levels (CEFR).
Admission requirements
To take this course you need an Oxford Online Placement Test (OOPT) score above 50. You can apply for the online OOPT by emailing us at into@wur.nl. Read more about the OOPT.
What will you learn?
Naturally, this course involves a lot of talking. You talk about a variety of themes, which will gradually expand your vocabulary. You will also be given useful tips to help you learn to speak more fluently.
What will the classes cover?
During the course:
- you talk about things like work, current affairs, plans for the future, hobbies and leisure activities;
- you get tips on how to learn and remember vocabulary effectively;
- we discuss why vocabulary and tone are important;
- you learn the quirks of the English language and typical English expressions;
- you learn how to avoid vague language.

- Location: face-to-face at Wageningen campus
This course is offered annually in February/March and September.

The course consists of 10 weekly sessions of 1.5 hours. You should count on about 2 hours of individual study per week.
If you register for an online course, you follow all classes online using the Virtual Classroom in Brightspace. If you choose a face-to-face course, all classes will take place at Wageningen Campus.
There is no course book. The materials will be tailored to the needs and wishes of the group. All materials will be made available on Brightspace free of charge.
You will receive a certificate from Wageningen in’to Languages if you attend at least 80% of the lessons.
