Nutritional Biology featured in NPO2 series on longevity
Nutritional Biology researcher Dr Pol Grootswagers appears in the new NPO2 television series Jekels jacht naar het eeuwige leven (Jekel's Quest for Eternal Life), which explores the scientific evidence behind healthy ageing and longevity.
In the three-part series, science journalist Diederik Jekel and presenter Catalina Mosquera Rosas investigate whether science can help people live longer and healthier lives. Along the way, they meet leading Dutch researchers working on ageing, nutrition, metabolism, and longevity.
As part of the programme, the presenters visited the Human Research Unit of Wageningen University & Research, where they underwent a range of physiological measurements. During the visit, Grootswagers discussed the role of nutrition in healthy ageing and how dietary choices may influence biological ageing processes and long-term health.
The series also features several researchers affiliated with the Dutch Society for Research on Ageing (DuSRA), including experts from Leiden University Medical Center, Amsterdam UMC, UMC Groningen and other Dutch research institutes.
The programme highlights the growing scientific interest in understanding ageing processes and identifying evidence-based strategies that can help extend healthspan: the number of years lived in good health.
The series Jekels jacht naar het eeuwige leven can be viewed via NPO Start.
