Biography

Biography

Alexandra is a PhD candidate in the Biomanufacturing & Digital Twins research group within the Bioprocess Engineering (BPE) Department at Wageningen University & Research (WUR). She earned her Master’s degree in Cellular and Molecular Biotechnology in 2020, conducting her thesis research in the Systems & Synthetic Biology (SSB) group at WUR. Additionally, she completed an internship thesis in the Systems & Synthetic Metabolism group led by Dr. Bar-Even at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Plant Physiology in Potsdam-Golm, Germany.

Initially, Alexandra began her research career as a research assistant and PhD candidate focused on metabolic engineering of microbes. However, after a year, her interests shifted toward broader global challenges in modern biomanufacturing and the (bio)economy. Her research now explores interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral innovation, with a particular focus on knowledge management, policy, communication, and responsibility frameworks. Ultimately, her work addresses how to effectively manage and integrate these aspects to facilitate innovation in complex scientific and technological landscapes.
