Biography

Biography

Carmen Dymanus is a PhD candidate at the Strategic Communication Group and is part of the ERC-funded project "Hunting for Voters: The Impact of Data-Driven Campaigning on Democracy", led by PI Sanne Kruikemeier. In her research, she focuses on political microtargeting from citizens’ perspective, investigating how citizens deal with and respond to targeted online political messages. More specifically, she aims to design interventions to improve citizens’ literacy and skills when it comes to dealing with (targeted) political advertising. In her research she aims to design interventions to minimize harms and maximize benefits of online political advertising. In doing so, she combines qualitative and quantitative elements in her research, such as focus groups and (field) experiments. She obtained her BSc in Public Administration at Utrecht University and completed the Research Master Social Sciences at the University of Amsterdam in 2022.
