My research focuses on different aspects of perceptions, beliefs and emotions that underlie human interaction and ultimately behavior. A significant research interest concerns interpersonal health communication, particularly between health care providers and patients. Depending on research question and context, I apply quantitative and/or qualitative methods to various topics such as self-management of health and disease, lifestyle counseling in health care, vaccination uptake, climate change communication, and co-design and evaluation of eHealth applications. Finally, I am highly interested in societal and policy implications of scientific research, and the role of science and technology in society.
