Biography

Johanna Sophie Buerkert is a postdoctoral researcher in the Environmental Policy Group. 
As part of the EU Horizon REDRESS project (Project number: 101135492), her research focuses on the governance of deep-sea restoration in the European Seas. 

Before joining ENP, Johanna was a Phd fellow at the University of Copenhagen where she researched the role of public international law (climate change law, human rights law, international environmental law and the law of the sea) in strengthening the climate resilience of coastal communities in the Arctic (Alaska, Canada and Kalaallit Nunaat, Greenland).

She is particularly interested in interdisciplinary approaches to governance research and keen to work with and learn from different disciplines in the natural and social sciences.
