Biography

Simon Ndeweni is a dedicated researcher at Wageningen University, currently pursuing a PhD in water resource management with a focus on optimizing rainwater harvesting strategies in Kenya's semi-arid lands. With a strong background in water and environmental research, Simon has made significant contributions to Kenya's water sector through his extensive work in capacity building, project management, and curriculum development at the Kenya Water Institute (KEWI). 

Among his notable achievements, Simon established a Climate Smart program at KEWI’s Chiakariga Campus—a semi-arid region demonstration plot designed to showcase sustainable water and agricultural practices for the local community and stakeholders. This program serves as a living lab, providing communities and partners with practical knowledge for adapting to climate variability.

Simon has also led initiatives on non-revenue water (NRW) management and coordinated activities at the NRW Centre of Excellence at KEWI. Skilled in geospatial technologies, he applies these tools to address complex water and climate-related challenges. Through his PhD research, he aims to advance sustainable water practices by developing innovative frameworks and actionable strategies to tackle water scarcity, particularly in Kenya's semi-arid regions. By bridging local practices with global insights, Simon is committed to fostering resilience and sustainable water management amid a rapidly changing climate.
