Biography
Jay Marisca Gietzelt is a PhD candidate in the Forest & Nature Conservation Policy (FNP) and Earth Systems & Global Change (ESC) chair groups at Wageningen University & Research. Her research focuses on the co-creation of scenarios and pathways to sustainability transformations in the Northern Netherlands, including the Wadden Sea. As part of this, she explores human-nature relations within participatory futures methods, including the role of values of nature and multispecies justice. Her research methods include scenario development, arts-based methods, and qualitative fieldwork. She is part of the wider EU Horizon DISTENDER project focusing on integrated climate change adaptation and mitigation. She is interested in transdisciplinary research, focusing on just transformations, more-than-human approaches, and marine social-ecological systems. Outside of her PhD research, she is also involved in public engagement and mobilization on environmental and ocean policy issues, as part of the Eurocean’s Youth Ambassador network and the Global Youth Biodiversity Network.
