TJA (Ties) Maris

I am a marine biologist currently studying abundance trends in zooplankton in the North Sea. My passion lies in the use of statistical models to identify and study changes in the abundance and distribution of marine organisms. 

I did my BSc Biology in Nijmegen, graduating in 2022. Then, I graduated from Wageningen University in 2024 with a MSc Biology, specializing in marine biology, ecological modelling and statistics. Immediately after, I started working as a PhD student at the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ) in Yerseke, with WUR as my graduate school.
