I have started my PhD research at Wageningen University chairgroup HWM in June 2021. For my research, I will study the ground- and surface water fluxes towards coral reefs on the Caribbean islands Curaçao and St. Eustatius. These fluxes transport solutes, like nitrates, towards the reefs an can affect the submarine ecosystems. Together with eight other PhD students in the SEALINK project we will study what solutes reach the coral reefs, how these solutes are transported within the sea, what effect they have on the ecosystem and how these issues can be tackled by land use changes and policies.
