Do you work in an international environment where English is commonly spoken, or do you have many English-speaking business clients? Do you already speak some English, but could it be better, more fluent and more professional? This course will teach you to communicate more confidently and avoid language errors in emails, meetings and presentations.
Who is this course suitable for?
For anyone who wants to professionalise their business English further. We are happy to help you even if you are still at the beginning of your career with all sorts - like with the precision and fluency of your application pitch!

Admission requirements
To be eligible for the Professional Skills in English course, you need to score 60 or up on the Oxford Online Placement Test (OOPT). You can apply for the OOPT by emailing us at into@wur.nl. Read more about the OOPT.
What will be covered?

Course content
You start from your work practice in this interactive course. You will be working on the language skills you need to speak and write English confidently in your work environment.
The topics include:
- writing business texts;
- conducting customer-oriented interviews: asking and answering questions, informing, reassuring and advising;
- meetings;
- vocabulary and grammar.
This course is the ideal companion to the Speaking Skills course.

- Location: face-to-face at the WUR campus
This course is offered annually in February/March and October.

The course price does not include course materials.
The course consists of 10 sessions of 1.5 hours each week. You should also allow for 2 to 3 hours of self-study per week.
If you register for an online course, you follow all classes online using the Virtual Classroom in Brightspace. If you choose a face-to-face course, all classes will take place at Wageningen Campus.
There is no course book. Instead, Wageningen in’to Languages will provide the required tailormade material via Brightspace at no extra charge.
You will receive a certificate from Wageningen in’to Languages if you attend at least 80% of the lessons.
