Do you want to learn French for your internship, study or work in France and are you already reasonably proficient in French grammar? Are you looking to deepen this knowledge and improve your French communication skills? The online course French 4 will help you to better understand and speak French.

Who is this course suitable for?

Target group

French 4 is intended for anyone who has studied French for 3 to 4 years at the HAVO or VWO level and who has had some contact with the French language since then, either by taking a course or by living in a French-speaking country. This course is also intended for anyone who has completed our French 3 course.

What will you learn?

Content and approach

From A2 to on the way to B1

This course will help you reach language level B1. After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • have simple conversations on familiar topics in French;
  • understand the main points of simple texts;
  • formulate a personal opinion in a simple manner;
  • write texts and emails on familiar topics.

Approach
The emphasis is on oral communication, but reading, listening, and writing skills are also covered. French is spoken as much as possible in class, with English as the supporting language. You'll also learn more about French culture.

  • In this French 3 course, we cover a range of grammar topics, including:
  • The difference between the passé composé and the imparfait
  • The plus-que-parfait
  • The participe présent and the gérondif
  • Expressing condition and regret
  • Giving advice
  • Giving a substantiated opinion
  • Indirect questions
  • Passive sentences
  • Indirect speech
  • The subjonctif
  • The pronoun EN
