The weekly market in Wageningen, also known as the “Wageningen Market”, is a popular tradition in the city. The market takes place every Wednesday and Saturday at De Markt, the central square of Wageningen. Besides picking up affordable vegetables, fruit, flowers, bread and other goods, you’ll also find cosy pubs around the square.

Do you have a moment? From De Woeste Hoeve to De Zaaier. From De Vlaamsche Reus to The Doctor. And what about De Bunker, Kater&Co or the many association houses where there’s always something going on.

Sportcentre de Bongerd
Sports Centre de Bongerd is a sports centre specifically for students and staff of Wageningen University & Research. Anyone who wants to let off steam or simply get some exercise is welcome here.

Wageningse forest
The Wageningen forest is used by many students for walking, cycling or exercising in nature. The forest is very accessible thanks to its good paths and roads.

The Rhine and floodplains
The Rhine is not only beautiful to look at, it is also the perfect place for a day of swimming, sunbathing, walking or a great running route. It is also the ideal spot to enjoy the sunshine with your friends, housemates or student association, or to have a (small) get-together.

Proef Wageningen
There’s always something happening in Wageningen. The most famous event is the Wageningen Liberation Festival, known throughout the Netherlands. But there’s more. The Proef Wageningen events calendar is packed with activities, including plenty for you as a student.
Belmonte Arboretum
You’ll find this botanical garden on the slopes of the Wageningen hills. Besides its special trees, shrubs and plants, the view alone is worth the visit. It’s a wonderful place to unwind.
Junushoff Theatre
Junushoff Theatre is the theatre of Wageningen. This is the place to go for depth, inspiration and relaxation. And for anyone under 26, there are great discounts on tickets.
Torckpark
This green gem is Wageningen’s city park. With its grassy lawns, flowers, trees, city moat and city wall, it’s a wonderful place to enjoy the sunshine. Or to visit one of the many festivals, concerts, cultural activities or simply enjoy your own picnic.
Cinema
You can also enjoy a movie night right here in Wageningen! You’ve got Filmhuis Movie W and the Heerenstraat Theatre.

About Wageningen
City of life sciences
Wageningen is a welcoming and accommodating city. This is obvious from the pleasant cafés in the city centre. Wageningen University & Research and other institutes are particularly focused on developing innovative solutions in the field of nutrition and health. This is why Wageningen is known as the City of Life Sciences.
City of liberation
When you think of Wageningen, you think of the liberation of the Netherlands in 1945. The capitulation was signed here in Wageningen on that day. Every year on 4 May, there is an official commemoration, and on 5 May, it is celebrated extensively with the Liberation Festival. Visiting Wageningen around these days is definitely a must.
