Designing and testing intervention strategies

About this expertise
In short- Behavioural interventions
- Based on science and data
- AI and virtual reality tools
- Virtual and real-life tests
Wageningen University & Research develops behavioural interventions that align with consumers’ underlying motivations. Using cutting-edge behavioural science, we test these interventions in both controlled environments and real-world settings. This reveals what truly works in practice, providing solid evidence for policymakers and practitioners.
Achieving stable, long-term behaviour change requires a comprehensive approach. Together with clients, we design and test interventions in labs, homes, and online environments. We use tools such as:
- Online shopping apps and VR glasses to explore unconscious behaviour
- Generative AI to create personalised communication
Controlled experiments allow us to compare strategies and identify what works best. We also run real-life trials in supermarkets, restaurants, and canteens. These help tailor interventions to specific contexts, ensuring they are practical, accepted by organisations, and cost-effective.
We measure impact through consumer satisfaction, willingness to pay, and long-term behavioural change. This approach leads to strategies that not only influence behaviour but sustain it.
