EU School dairy programme

The benefits
In short- Free for schools
- Learning about nutrition
- Promoting healthy diets
Schools participating in the EU School dairy programme receive two dairy portions per pupil each week for 20 weeks. The programme is funded by the European Union.
About the programme
Healthy eating and drinking provide children with the energy and essential nutrients they need to grow and thrive. Dairy is included in the Dutch dietary guidelines (the “Wheel of Five”) and is recognised as part of a balanced diet. It provides important nutrients such as protein, vitamins and minerals.
Through the EU dairy programme, children are encouraged to build healthy eating habits. For 20 weeks, pupils receive two free portions of semi-skimmed milk, buttermilk or yoghurt at school each week. The programme is available free of charge to primary and special education schools, thanks to EU funding.
Alongside the weekly deliveries, schools gain access to teaching materials and activities that help children learn more about healthy nutrition. In this way, the EU School dairy programme contributes to lifelong healthy habits.
