We develop and implement smart diagnostic solutions that deliver fast, accurate insights into safety and quality, across sectors. Our tests detect, among other things, toxins, microorganisms, pesticides and antibiotics.
With over 30 years of experience, Wageningen University & Research (WUR) develops fast, easy-to-use diagnostic platforms to assess food safety, quality and more. We work closely with partners to ensure practical, on-site applicability, whether in the field, factory, clinic or lab.
Our assays detect a wide range of components, from proteins and microorganisms to DNA/RNA sequences, toxins, pollutants, and high-value bioactives. Technologies include lateral flow assays (similar to pregnancy tests), microarrays, and rapid nucleic acid tests, often supported by video-readers or cutting-edge flow control in nitrocellulose membranes (Surfix technology).
Systems for continuous contaminant detection and HTS tools
We also co-develop systems for continuous contaminant detection, and high-throughput screening (HTS) tools to analyse residual biomass for antimicrobial, antioxidant, or metabolic activity. The flexibility of these technologies allows for easy adaptation across industries, offering user-friendly, custom-fit diagnostic solutions
