  • Certificate of release for use in the Netherlands
  • For reliable and independent veterinary diagnostics
Introduction

The veterinary laboratory recognition scheme (REVL) defines the framework for recognising laboratories operating in the veterinary domain. In the Netherlands, this supervision is conducted by the 'REVL Supervision Team' of Wageningen Bioveterinary Research. This task forms part of our statutory responsibilities under the Dutch government’s programme for Notifiable Animal Diseases (WOT) to ensure reliable and independent veterinary diagnostics.

Who is REVL intended for?

Who is it for

REVL applies to test manufacturers and private laboratories that wish to perform official control tests on behalf of the Dutch government. These laboratories must hold official accreditation issued by the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA).

Test manufacturers and distributors may submit an application for kit or batch testing* to our REVL Oversight Team. This applies to all supervision programmes under REVL. For test kits and/or batches that fall outside the scope of REVL, kit or batch testing is not required.

For tests covered by REVL, the following conditions apply:

  • Test kits and reagents are registered on the Dutch market.
  • Batches of test kits and reagents must be checked and released for use by the competent National Reference Laboratory (NRL).
