Wind Test Site Lelystad is the wind turbine testing facility of the Application Centre for Renewable Resources and Energy (ACRRES). Here, wind turbines are tested under real-life conditions. Located in Flevoland, it offers a unique opportunity within Europe for practical testing and research.

What can you do at Wind Test Site Lelystad?
At Wind Test Site Lelystad, companies can test, certify and optimise their wind turbines. The facility is located in an open, rural area that offers ideal conditions for measurements and long-term field trials. As the site is part of Wageningen University & Research, all testing is directly embedded in agricultural research and regional development in Flevoland - across both the agriculture and energy domains.
The site offers twelve test positions with tip heights of up to 200 metres and is located close to the ACRRES Smart Grid test environment, several solar PV installations and a combined heat and power plant. Across WUR’s 1,200-hectare campus, various forms of renewable energy production and grid integration can be studied in combination.
By conducting applied research and bringing together key partners and industry clusters, the facility stimulates innovation and supports the optimisation of renewable energy production. Through Wind Test Site Lelystad, ACRRES strengthens the link between practical research, technological development and knowledge exchange in sustainable energy.
