Nature positively influences human health and well-being.
At Wageningen University & Research, we study how the design and management of natural environments contribute to human health. Our research focuses on the effects of nature on stress reduction, social cohesion, physical activity, and child development. We also examine the role of nature in promoting meaning and personal development.
We collaborate with municipalities, healthcare institutions, and other organizations to integrate nature into living environments in ways that promote the health of residents. This includes designing green schoolyards, developing neighborhood greening projects, and advising on nature-inclusive urban planning.
